The project presented today proves that our customers not only benefit from enormous part cost savings in grooving instead of copy turning, but also have substantial advantages in milling.
Previously, customers have used solid carbide tools by using the known parameters such as high tool costs, high coating costs, and longer tool change times. The Schwanog productivity team has now been called to optimize the production process due to high pressure from our customers to reduce costs.
For the Schwanog standard tool holder, a part-specific, 2-blade insertable tool having a high
change accuracy of ± 0.01 mm has been developed. This solution optimizes three requirements
at the same time: Lower tool costs, faster tool change time, and reduced coating costs compared
with solid carbide tools. This makes the PWP-D-PL insertable tool an excellent example of how we
offer solutions of considerable higher productivity at lower tool costs.
